About Us

Neurosurgery

The Neurosurgery Service provides care for a broad spectrum of diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, with spinal and traumatic disorders constituting the majority of the cases. A broad range of CNS abnormalities are also evaluated and treated. Inpatient care consists of ward and ICU patients. A neurosurgery clinic is seen twice per week. Medical students are expected to closely participate in the primary care of patients to whom they are assigned in concert with house staff and attending staff. Rounds are made daily, and there are two to three lectures per week on neurosurgical subjects. The medical student is expected to develop a thorough working knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of neurosurgical lesions and the diagnosis of such problems utilizing the various radiographic modalities available. A weekly neuroradiology conference is scheduled for this purpose.
