Infectious Disease Fellowship Rotations

More than half of the required clinical rotations are performed on the Infectious Diseases inpatient consultative service at SAMMC. The other rotations include service on the consultative services at the Texas Center for Infectious Diseases (TB, AIDS, and leprosy experience), and at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center/Audie Murphy VA Hospital’s consultative service (general ID and AIDS, and clinical microbiology). Specialized areas included in training are travel medicine, sexually transmitted diseases, transplant (allo-and autologous bone marrow, and solid organ)-associated infections, inpatient and ambulatory HIV care. In addition, off-site courses and meetings are frequently attended throughout the fellowship, to include: the Denver (National Jewish) TB course; the USUHS Tropical Medicine course; if possible, the SHEA primer on Infection Control; and annual national subspecialty meetings.
Don't forget to keep your family's information up-to-date in DEERS.
