The Gastroenterology Service provides a balanced exposure to clinical gastroenterology and didactic instructions. Students will be assigned to and will work with one of the house staff as part of the primary care team. Exposure to the full range of special diagnostic procedures is available including observation of per oral endoscopy, colonoscopy, liver biopsy, small bowel biopsy, esophageal motility, laparoscopy, and related techniques. A full program of attending rounds both of the attending staff and the attending fellow, visiting professorships, weekly physiology seminars, and x-ray conference as well as interaction with the General Surgery Service is available. Participation in the Department of Medicine conference schedule is required.
