About Us

Internal Medicine

The Internal Medicine Service consists of approximately 60 male and female beds. Patients admitted to the service encompass the broad field of internal medicine. The emphasis of the BAMC clerkship is on obtaining the data-base on patients, formulating problem lists, understanding pathophysio logic mechanisms and becoming familiar with the signs and symptoms, natural history of prognosis, and treatment of the common diseases in the field of internal medicine. Each student will work under the direct supervision of the house staff and attending physicians on the ward. Students are encouraged to perform the initial evaluation, write orders and progress notes with the appropriate countersignature of the house officer, and to maintain flow sheets and problem lists on the patients to whom they have been assigned. They may also perform any procedure appropriate to their level of training under the direct visual supervision of a physician.
