OB/GYN
On obstetrics, patients will be assigned for examination, evaluation and follow-up under house staff supervision. Laboring patients will be assigned for student participation in intrapartum management, delivery and postpartum care. The physiologic changes of normal pregnancy, routine prenatal care and the conduct of normal labor will be emphasized. On Gynecology, participation in all aspects of the management of gynecology inpatients, both operative and non-operative, to include obtaining the history, performing the physical examination, and developing the management plan as appropriate and carrying out any indicated definitive therapy. Also, examinations and evaluations of patients in the scheduled gynecology outpatient clinics under house staff supervision. Attendance at all service-specific teaching activities and rounds, students will also attend all departmental conferences and lectures and will be assigned regularly to in-house call outside normal duty hours. Preparation of a short presentation on a specialty-related topic is usually required. The rotation will cover both hospitals, Brooke Army Medical Center and Wilford Hall Medical Center.
