Colonel (Dr.) Kevin Kelly

Photo of BAMC Commander Colonel (Dr.) Kevin KellyColonel (Dr.) Kevin Kelly most recently served as the Deputy Corps Chief of the US Army Medical Corps. Prior to assuming this role, he served as the Commander of Martin Army Community Hospital, US Army Medical Department Activity, Fort Benning, Georgia.

He commissioned as an Army officer in 1999 upon graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point and then completed training in medicine at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at Madigan Army Medical Center on Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington where he served as Chief Resident. He next served as a Battalion Surgeon in the 202d Brigade Support Battalion, at Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Additional previous assignments include: Brigade Surgeon for the 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2d Infantry Division, Faculty Development Fellowship at Madigan Army Medical Center, faculty physician and Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, Texas, Command Surgeon for the 3d Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. Colonel Kelly served as the Commander for the 261st Multi­ functional Medical Battalion at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and deployed a BN Task Force to the northeastern United States during the Department of Defense's support of the national COVID-19 response. He formerly served as Consultant to the Army Surgeon General for Family Medicine (61H).

Dr. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Life Sciences from the United States Military Academy (1999), a Medical Degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine (2003), a Master of Business Admin­istration degree from Pacific Lutheran University (2011), and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University (2021). He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and holds an appointment as Assistant Professor at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He is a graduate of the AMEDD Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Army Command and General Staff College, and Senior Service College through the Eisenhower School of National Security and Resource Strategy. Dr. Kelly holds the "9A" Proficiency Designator, the highest recognition for professional excellence in the Army Medical Department. He is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3), a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and recipient of the USAFP Michael J. Scotti, MD Family Physician of the Year Award (2023).

His awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device, the Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Combat Medical Badge, and the Parachutist Badge.
