The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Nephrology

Scope of Service

The Nephrology Service provides comprehensive subspecialty consultation and medical management for military beneficiaries, 18 years of age and older, with all types of kidney diseases, refractory hypertension, and complex electrolyte disorders.  The Hemodialysis Unit is a vital part of the Nephrology Service and provides hemodialysis treatments for hospitalized patients with acute kidney injury or end-stage renal disease as well as a small group of outpatients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Inpatient nephrology consultation and hemodialysis is available 24/7.

Referral Required

A consult (referral) from your TRICARE Primary Care Provider is needed for outpatient Nephrology consultation, and referrals will be reviewed and dispositioned based on appointment availability.
