APCMH - Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine Service (AYAMS)

The Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine Service provides accessible, high quality, focused, interdisciplinary primary and specialty healthcare to enrolled TRICARE beneficiaries between the ages of 12 and 23. Comprehensive services included management of acute and chronic illnesses, consultation, preventive health maintenance, wellness, reproductive and Behavioral Health services.

The AYAMS may be consulted from your primary care manager (PCM) regardless of whether you are TRICARE Prime or Select for reproductive and menstrual health care, behavioral health evaluation, Healthy Habits (a program for the prevention and treatment of obesity and its related health sequelae), headache evaluation and management, concussion management, acne vulgaris and consideration of Accutane, and transition of care for older adolescents and young adults that may have issues related to transition to adulthood.

Go through the Fort Sam Houston gate (ID required) and proceed to the stop light and turn left. The parking lot is on the right.
  • Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine Clinic: book appointments through CAMO at 210-916-9900 (available Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).
  • The Nurse Advice Line (NAL) can be reached 7 days a week, 24 hours a day at 1-800-TRICARE (874-2273). Experienced nurses will provide medical advice and nurse triage.
  • Clinic Hours: Monday-Tuesday 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. / Wednesday-Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

  • Use the MHS Patient Portal secure messaging at https://patientportal.mhsgenesis.health.mil to reach the Message My Provider tab to message your provider and nurse, send provider and nurse secure attachments, make appointments, refill medications, and have access to your child’s immunization record, if you already have an account. If you do not have an account, please register for access to the new MHS GENESIS patient portal at https://myaccess.dmdc.osd.mil/identitymanagement/.

  • Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine walk-in services and hours for enrolled patients:
    • Monday-Thursday: 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
    • Friday: 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
    • Enrolled patients can be screened for sore throat, sexually transmitted infections, and immunizations
    • Transcription of immunization records will take three business days from receipt
