Maxillofacial Restoration Center of Excellence
The Maxillofacial Restoration Center of Excellence at Brooke Army Medical Center provides cutting-edge comprehensive care for patients with injury, congenital conditions, and diseases of the face, mouth, and jaws.
Restoration and Readiness
The face and jaws account for up to 30% of injuries in recent global conflicts, which makes maxillofacial restoration critical for military readiness. The Center of Excellence was established as a direct response to the growing need for advanced facial reconstructive capabilities that seamlessly integrate medicine, dentistry, surgery, and rehabilitation to give our warfighters the outcomes the deserve.

"Jaw in a Day" is an innovative surgical procedure that allows for immediate jaw reconstruction with the delivery of prosthetic teeth in a single surgery. This technique significantly reduces treatment times compared to traditional methods. BAMC is one of the leading centers in the U.S. offering this advanced procedure to a broad range of patients, including those with trauma and tumors.
Military readiness is a central focus of the program. By providing comprehensive facial restoration with rapid recovery times and a high return-to-duty rate, the program directly supports the retention of experienced service members who might otherwise be medically discharged from the military. The program's focus on fast functional recovery ensures that service members can return to their units and perform their duties as quickly as possible.
