Pathology and Area Laboratory Services - DPALS
The Department of Pathology and Area Laboratory Services (DPALS) provides responsive, high-quality laboratory testing in support of patient care using qualified professionals and state of the art methods and instrumentation. DPALS provides clinical and anatomical pathology services to BAMC, the Defense Health Agency, other medical treatment facilities worldwide.
Our team is comprised of licensed, board-certified Pathologists, certified Medical Technologists and Technicians, and a caring support staff focused on patient care and safety. The laboratory is accredited by The College of American Pathologists (CAP), The Joint Commission (TJC), Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), and the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Program (CLIP).

Scope of Service
DPALS provides comprehensive, high-quality laboratory testing across major disciplines-including but not limited to chemistry, hematology, microbiology, transfusion medicine, urinalysis, and anatomic pathology-to support patient care at BAMC, the Defense Health Agency, and worldwide MTFs. Our team uses advanced methods and instrumentation to deliver timely, reliable results.
