The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Emergency Medicine

The Department of Emergency Medicine provides emergency care for military health care beneficiaries and severely traumatized patients from the local civilian community. BAMC is one member of San Antonio's triad of level 1 trauma centers that includes University of Texas, San Antonio Medical Center and Wilford Hall Medical Center. The Department of Emergency Medicine serves as the portal of entry and site of initial evaluation and resuscitation for all trauma patients arriving at BAMC. In addition to trauma patients, the Department of Emergency Medicine evaluates and treats patients with a broad range of minor to life-threatening medical and surgical conditions. The Department of Emergency Medicine is dedicated to providing the most efficient, compassionate and clinically excellent care for our patients.
