HIV Counseling Services
BAMC
Brief Description: Preventive Medicine/Army Public Health Nursing provides initial notification, confirmatory testing, contact interviewing, counseling and education for HIV-infected active duty, Reserve, and National Guard military personnel. Once these medical services are completed the active duty service member is referred to the infectious disease clinic for evaluation and treatment. Refer to the Infectious Disease HIV Program link (place link here) for more information related to staging and treatment.
Population Served: All military beneficiaries.
Intake: Direct referral as a result of a positive HIV lab result.

- Hours of Operation: Walk-ins Monday - Friday, 7:15 a.m. - 9 a.m.
Appointments scheduled Monday and Tuesday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. - 11 p.m.

Brief Description: Provide counseling and contact tracing for those diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections.
Signs and Symptoms
If you have signs and symptoms of a STI or have a concern regarding possible exposure to a Sexually Transmitted Infection see your primary care manager as soon as possible to get evaluated, tested and treated if necessary:
McWethy Troop Medical Clinic
- Personnel in Training status or TDY go to Sick Call at the McWethy Troop Medical Clinic - 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., Monday-Friday
- Permanent party, family members and other beneficiaries (call for an appointment )
- Consult and Appointment Management Office (CAMO): call 210-916-9900 during clinic hours, 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.. You can also call the CAMO to check on the status of a referral submitted by your Primary Care Manager.
- San Antonio Patient Assistance Line: call 800-443-2262 to access care after hours during the weekdays (4 p.m. - 7 a.m.), 24 hours on weekends and on federal holidays.
